Walking Stick (corylus avellana 'contorta')
The Filbert or Hazelnut is generally grown for its tasty nuts, but not this one. 'Contorta", better known as the Walking Stick, has beautifully twisted and contorted weeping branches that are particularly striking when dusted with snow. In spring and summer and early autumn, it has large crinkly leaves so dense it hides the exaggerated corkscrew appearance of the limbs. Decideous. Keep outdoors. 12 years old. 18"x27"x29". Potted in a 12" ceramic blue rectangular container as shown. Suitable 14.5"x10.5" humidity tray is recommended. To purchase add $11.95. Shipped via UPS ground - $59.95.
